VISUAL EXPLORER PROJECT

“Explore a chosen area in London, select a theme & then turn it into a representative design outcome.”

The Visual Explorer brief was a site-specific project that asked to explore and gather visuals/photography of an area in London to later transform into graphic design pieces. The purpose was to expand ideas and preconceptions about what graphic design is and can be.

The outcomes needed to display a visual reflection of the area explored, as well as follow a selected theme like “expressive vandalism”. My area of action ended up being Camden, perfect for discussions on creative vandalism and visions.

  • Camden is renowned for its expressive and rebellious street art scene, where graffiti and sticker bomb culture thrive. This urban landscape bursts with a kaleidoscope of colours and messages that reflect the diversity and energy of the city. Visitors can usually find themselves immersed in a dynamic gallery of striking murals, thought-provoking tags, and signage consumed by stickers.

Political statements, social issues, and pop culture references frequently find their way onto the walls, bridges or signage, sparking conversation and challenging societal norms. In summary, Camden embodies the spirit of rebellion and artistic expression, transforming the streets into an ever-evolving gallery.
